Requirements and Skills
- Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license applicable for practice in South Dakota
- Proven experience in Emergency Room (ER) and/or Medical-Surgical nursing environments
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
- Ability to deliver compassionate, patient-centered care
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
- Proficiency in electronic medical records and documentation
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care in the ER and medical-surgical units, ensuring adherence to clinical protocols and patient safety standards
- Assess, monitor, and evaluate patient conditions, responding promptly to changes and emergencies
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, documenting accurately and timely
- Collaborate with physicians, specialists, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement patient care plans
- Educate patients and families on health conditions, discharge instructions, and ongoing care
- Maintain a clean, safe, and therapeutic environment for patients and staff
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuing education to maintain clinical competencies
Qualifications
- Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing
- Experience in ER and/or Med Surg nursing preferred
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- Strong clinical judgment, organizational, and multitasking abilities
- Commitment to high standards of ethical and professional conduct
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
