We are currently seeking a qualified and dedicated Surgical Services professional to join our Sterile Processing team in Spokane, WA. Shift & Schedule
- Evening shift: 5 days per week, 8-hour shifts
- Hours: 2:00 PM – 10:30 PM
Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of travel experience in Sterile Processing roles (with screening if less)
- Proficient with charting systems; Epic experience is required
- Active certification(s): CBSPD and HSPA OR CBSPD and IAHCSMM/HSPA
- Experience working in an acute hospital operating room (OR) setting
- In-depth knowledge and skills in:
- Aseptic technique and sterile instrument preparation
- Handling and organizing loaner/consignment trays
- Proper labeling and selection of wrapping materials
- Sterilization wrapping procedures and biological/chemical indicator monitoring
- Decontamination and disinfection practices including Automated Endoscope Reprocessors (AER), high-level disinfection (HLD), manual cleaning, and use of ultrasonic cleaners
- Cleaning medical equipment such as crash carts, IV pumps, PCA pumps
- Flexible endoscope reprocessing across a variety of scopes including bronchoscopes, colonoscopes, EGD scopes, and specialty scopes like EBUS and EUS
- Specialty equipment processing for cardiac, dental, ENT, laparoscopic, ophthalmology, orthopedic, plastics, robotics, transplant, trauma, urology, and vascular instruments
- Documentation and use of Sterile Processing Microsystem (SPM)
- Accurate assembly of instrument sets and trays
Key Responsibilities
- Perform sterilization and decontamination of surgical instruments and equipment according to established protocols
- Prepare, organize, and assemble instrument trays and loaner consignment sets for surgical procedures
- Ensure all instruments and trays are properly labeled and wrapped using correct sterilization wrapping procedures
- Use and maintain sterilization equipment, including washers, sterilizers, biological and chemical indicator monitors
- Handle flexible endoscope reprocessing utilizing high-level disinfection methods and specialized cleaning equipment
- Document all sterilization and processing activities accurately using Epic and the Sterile Processing Microsystem (SPM)
- Collaborate closely with surgical teams and sterile processing staff to maintain optimal workflow and patient safety
- Adhere strictly to aseptic techniques and regulatory standards governing sterile processing activities
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of professional work experience in surgical sterile processing with travel experience
- Current and valid certifications: CBSPD, HSPA, and/or IAHCSMM
- Proficiency with Epic charting system and strong documentation skills
- Working knowledge of aseptic techniques, sterilization procedures, and instrument handling in an acute hospital operating room environment
- Demonstrated expertise in flexible endoscope and specialty equipment processing
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent communication skills and commitment to patient safety and compliance standards
Compensation & Benefits
