Join Our Team as a Registered Nurse – Operating Room (OR) RN in Santa Rosa, CA

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Registered Nurse to join our dynamic Operating Room team. As part of our team, you will play a critical role in supporting surgical procedures and ensuring patient safety while working with cutting-edge technology.

Schedule

  • Day Shift: 3 shifts of 12 hours each per week
  • Hours: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of Registered Nurse experience; 5 years preferred
  • Experience in Level I Trauma settings (required)
  • Proficiency with Epic charting system (required)
  • Travel experience required
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Expertise in Ambulatory and General Operating Room environments (Ambulatory OR required)
  • Demonstrated skills with Cell Saver technology and Hana Table (required)
  • Experience with Da Vinci Xi Surgical System and robotic-assisted surgeries in gastrointestinal and urologic procedures (required)
  • Proficiency with Video-Assisted Thoracic Surgery (VATS) (required)
  • Knowledge and application of Universal Protocol (Time Out) Procedure, infection control, laser and radiation safety, specimen handling and labeling

  • Vascular Procedures: Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm repair, Arteriovenous fistula repair, Carotid angioplasty, Carotid artery stenting, Carotid Endarterectomy, Femoral popliteal bypass graft
  • Gynecology: Abdominal/Vaginal hysterectomy, Anterior/Posterior Repair (Colporrhaphy), Dilation & Curettage
  • Plastic Surgery: Abdominoplasty, Breast augmentation, Free Flap - Microvascular, Mastectomy with TRAM flap reconstruction
  • Neurology: ALIF, Anterior cervical fusion, Craniotomy, Kyphoplasty, Laminectomy/discectomy, Lumbar fusion, XLIF
  • Trauma: Amputations, Gunshot/stab wounds, Motor Vehicle Accident (multiple injuries)
  • Podiatry: Ankle fusion, Bunionectomy, Hallux valgus arthroplasty/arthrodesis, Metatarsal surgery
  • General Surgery: Appendectomy, Cholecystectomy, Colon resection, Hernia repair (inguinal/umbilical), Laparoscopic assisted procedures, Thyroidectomy (partial/total), Whipple procedure
  • Orthopedic Surgery: Arthroscopy, Carpal tunnel release, Closed and Open reduction of fractures, Laminectomy/discectomy, Spinal Fusion, Total joint replacement
  • Emergency Management: Code response, Fire safety, Latex allergy protocols, Malignant hyperthermia management
  • Urology: Cystectomy, Cystoscopy, Laparoscopic assisted cases, Prostatectomy, Transurethral resection of the prostate
  • Ear, Nose, and Throat: Endoscopic sinus procedures, Laryngectomy, Radical neck dissection, Tonsillectomy/adenoidectomy, Tracheostomy
  • Bariatrics: Laparoscopic assisted cases

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert perioperative nursing care across a wide range of surgical specialties within an Ambulatory and Trauma OR setting.
  • Prepare the operating room with necessary sterile equipment, instruments, and supplies including specialized devices such as the Hana Table and Cell Saver.
  • Ensure strict adherence to infection control standards and universal protocols including time-out procedures to enhance patient safety.
  • Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare team members to maintain a high standard of patient care.
  • Respond swiftly and competently to emergency situations such as code responses and malignant hyperthermia crises.
  • Maintain accurate and timely electronic charting using the Epic system.
  • Support the use and integration of advanced surgical technology such as the Da Vinci Xi Surgical System during procedures.
  • Manage specimen collection, labeling, and handling in accordance with facility and regulatory guidelines.
  • Participate in ongoing education and training related to perioperative nursing best practices and emerging surgical techniques.

Qualifications

  • Current and unrestricted Registered Nurse license in the state of California
  • At least three years of perioperative nursing experience, with preference given to candidates having five or more years
  • Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Proven track record of working in Level I trauma centers with comprehensive experience in emergency surgical care
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Epic electronic medical records system
  • Ability to travel as required for assignments
  • Strong teamwork, communication, and critical thinking skills
  • Commitment to maintaining the highest standards of patient safety and compassion in a surgical setting
