Requirements & Skills
- Current and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) licensure
- Proven experience in intensive care nursing, preferably in a Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU)
- Strong assessment and critical thinking skills essential for managing critically ill patients
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
- Ability to work efficiently in high-pressure situations with attention to detail
- Competency in electronic medical records (EMR) systems and clinical documentation
- Physical ability to provide direct patient care and respond to emergencies promptly
Key Responsibilities
- Provide exceptional nursing care to adult patients in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit, monitoring complex patient conditions
- Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately according to established protocols
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments, recognizing and responding to changes in patient status
- Collaborate closely with physicians, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate holistic patient care
- Maintain detailed and accurate patient records, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards
- Participate actively in patient and family education and support, addressing concerns with compassion
- Adhere to infection control procedures and promote patient safety initiatives at all times
Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Wisconsin
- Minimum of 2 years ICU or critical care nursing experience, preferably in a Surgical ICU setting
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification highly preferred
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize in a fast-paced critical care environment
Compensation: Hourly rate ranging from $63.00 to $74.00
